The Underbelly Project’s been haunting me lately:
NY Times: The Underbelly Project
I’m not sure what to make of it. There’s always high tension when street artists move to galleries…even one as “avant-garde” as this. This particular project mainly instigated turf wars.
Here’s what the locals had to say:
Gothamist: Project Colossally Dissed
The project brings up the common moral dilemma of selling out.
I love Banksy, but he is a sell-out. Even despite the fact that he expressed views opposing this in his film Exit Through the Gift Shop [2010].I guess on one side of the spectrum, one would probably rather make money for street art than anything else. However, at this point, corruption is imminent. Eh, I say do what you want and if it earns you something, more power to you. Frankly, the anarchists don’t see much worth in money.

Obviously, I'm a sell-out. Hell, look at this adsense crap.
